Masterpiece days are so much easier to create when you have the help and support of wonderful people, those individuals who have a natural inclination to help others Do Well and Do Good. Today I want to recognise and celebrate Gareth Hardy as just such a person.
Gareth I have known you for many years and you are without question a top bloke, not just a top bloke, you are a Ripper!
Allow me to say you are such an inspirational character who has built a wonderful life of success and giving back through grit, determination and being a supportive hand up to others. Everything you do is so aligned to what I believe in and you are a living example of how we can all Do Well for ourselves, while Doing Good for others in our families, teams, communities and beyond.
Should your fluency in Australian be a bit off and for the uninitiated, "Ripper" in Ozzy speak is another way to say great! If someone is a ripper, it means they’re a good person and this man is a really good person who is as humble as he Australian, successful and generous.
Gareth grew up on a farm in the hot Australian climate a fair distance from the major cities and today he a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist, property developer and all round great guy who has this to say about who he is and what he is about.
"I have been very fortunate to have played a sport professionally that I love and would of played anyway. This is something that I have at times taken for granted and only now, really appreciated those who have given me the opportunity to take advantage of the skill that I had. If it were not for those dedicated people I would not be where I am today. It is no coincidence that the love of Rugby Union and what I have learned from this experience has been the fulcrum of my business life. Owning and being involved in various business's brought to the surface a number commonalities between Rugby and the business world, and is now quite obvious as to why sport, Rugby Union and business have so much in common; Integrity, hard work, a passion, sense of humour, team work, willingness to help, mutual respect and being positive."
Gareth is a partner with Third.i Group who are the leading property developer in Australia with a deep commitment in their work to acknowledge the oldest continuous living culture on earth, the Aboriginal people. This rich history of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people has laid the foundations of, and continues to inspire their lives and work today. They honour their roles, responsibilities, obligations and connections to country and to each other, and pay respects to the Elders, their ancestors and descendants.
The leadership team at Third.i commented;
"To pay our respects to the traditional owners and what they have endured, as well as a celebration of their ongoing strength, Third.i Group is committed to supporting Aboriginal culture through meaningful partnerships to deepen our understanding and awareness of indigenous history and experiences, walking and working together toward a better future.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have lived and died for millennia on this land and we aim to walk beside them, intertwining our histories, sharing experiences and culture; and growing together as allies."
Alongside the success of Third.i Group Gareth founded 1823 Group which is a also business living the ethos of Doing Well Doing Good. 1823 are a communications company committed supporting people connect, enabling people to care for each other as humans. Gareth has this to say about his development of 1823.
"It’s not just businesses dealing with businesses. It never has been. It’s people to people, and never more so than now. We believe deeply in the relationships we build and how those human relationships are most important things in our lives.
The business and everyone working with 1823 pride themselves in building these real relationships while creating managed networks, mobiles, unified communications, voice and IT solutions for amazing people in this new world of work.
When the 1823 Group was established giving back was high on the agenda (not an AOB at the bottom of the business plan) and now every client relationship enables us to contribute financially to causes we and our clients care deeply about, knowing we’re lucky to be in a business community that wants to make a difference by supporting others.
In practical terms every time you buy something from 1823, however big or small, we commit to giving a significant amount of the profits to a charity or a charitable project. As those sums add up each month we work with you choose a charity that appeals to your business or employees and then we donate to them on your behalf each month."
This all means that together we can help you give back to any community you want to on a regular monthly basis, totally free, living the ethos of Doing Well Good, not as a ‘bolt on’ because it looks good, but because you’ve made a conscious choice to work with a supplier who holds the same values as you do.
Gareth and his teams are big believers in the power of many small acts to create a big impact, so even if you are only placing an order for a couple of SIMs, we’ll still donate the same proportion of the profit, but this time to B1G1 where all the pennies and pounds grow into something each month that will make a real difference.
As I said at the start of this, my humble personal tribute Gareth Hardy you’re a legend and I appreciate your support in everything we do creatively connecting wonderful people who are Doing Well Doing Good. Masterpiece days are so much easier to create when you have the help and support of wonderful people, those individuals who have a natural inclination to help others create connection through collaboration and do good things.
What a great bloke.
A true "Ripper"!
