Positive Transformation; Social value to business value.

Updated: Dec 18

PTI is leading a locally developed, national collaboration to Connect Corporates with Communities (CCC). This powerful collaboration engaging communities and corporates will level up access to opportunity, delivering measurable Positive Transformation through implementation of a data rich, intelligent calculation of social value, and environmental impact to form the foundations of UK wide ESG initiatives, leading to powerful global collaborations creating Income and Impact in equal measure.

The Positive Transformation Initiative (PTI) brings a new era in the creation of charitable opportunity. What we do is for you, your business, your team, your family, your friends, in fact it is for everyone wanting to find opportunities in a difficult changing world. Our Mission is to create access to opportunity while supporting charitable projects through collaboration, positively engaging in a process of impacting a minimum of one billion lives, creating brighter better futures locally, nationally, and globally.

PTI is ultimately a radical vision that drives cross organisational collaboration, creating systemic measurable change in society by connecting people with opportunity through supporting the delivery agents (businesses, the state, charities, focus groups etc) with resources & connections, carefully managing collaborations, while aligning to the core PTI mission.

Positively Impacting one billion lives - Providing the right networks, connections, resources, and opportunities to create brighter better futures. This initiative is led by our Founder Dan Brown, along with His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, and Chair of London Business Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, aligned to an incredibly connected, motivated, likeminded, and focused steering group of senior leaders.

The opportunity here is to join an established virtual alliance acting for social change, accelerated opportunity creation, diversity, and inclusion. This growing movement is underpinned by internationally recognised leaders and entities generating sustainable revenues for social impact programmes. The focus of Positive Transformation being firmly on understanding the needs of communities and businesses to drive competitive advantage through a new era of change and transformation, where investing in social value, is investing in business value.

As PTI expands there is an immediate and drastic need for new innovative thinking and a vison which reflects the acute needs of our society, affected as it is by events beyond our control such as viral pandemics, and by controllable events such as the need to slow down and eliminate the causes of climate change and environmental deterioration.

A valuable outcome of our work to date, is that we have recognised what was perhaps obvious, namely that such thinking is not happening in isolation, and much work has already been done along the same lines by powerful and influential likeminded people, people who are now joining forces with PTI in collaborations for positive change. It is quite obvious, that it now makes sense to merge work being considered by several individuals and groups, to create a focused central effort under the PTI umbrella, with structure, direction, and measurable outcomes.

This collaborative initiative will be the driving force leading a locally developed, national collaboration to Connecting Corporates with Communities (CCC) creating measurable intelligent calculation of social value and environmental impact. CCC will be a driving force for supporting the governments promises to level up access to opportunities across the UK, increasing diversity, inclusion, while also addressing important complex social challenges like digital inequality, access to digital skills, and creating access to funded skills to support pathways into employment.

One important starting point (that has the capacity to provide huge untapped human resources) is through our partnership with a significant network of housing associations, 1800 across the UK. Through this partnership PTI can efficiently and very effectively connect corporates to communities and facilitate access to right people, resources, and funding to drive opportunities through powerful collaborations. This work will also help create the PTI Bridge, Connecting Corporates with Communities (CCC), levelling up society and creating brighter better futures through new thinking and positively transformational innovative change.

To date, PTI has been creating prototype projects across business, state and third sector. A core part of this work has been to create a project looking at how, using technological advances, with a clear recognised and auditable framework for calculating social value, can be created, and adapted to support corporates with community engagement, providing measurable impact calculations for social value with their respective ESG commitments. This is now live and in place.

PTI continues to work with core partners who have invested significant funds in the creation of a social value framework (SVF) to calculate social value, and to demonstrate impact to peoples’ lives, this is now recognised by the Government and will become the standard across the social housing industry.

PTI partners are now using advanced Ai technology and machine learning capabilities to fully automate this calculation while creating an entirely new way to engage and measure impact and social value across the entire country. This will essentially create a new model of infinite value in measuring promises to level up UK PLC that can be presented to Government in support of their objectives.

The build of the technology platform has 15-man years of effort from a core team of incredibly experienced data scientists behind it. This same team previously created and successfully implemented global technology solutions for most of the world’s major law firms and banks. PTI are now enabling the collaboration that applies this to the SVF referred to above, so Government can build and scale up the methodology that this technology platform provides, and ultimately enables the build out of UK wide data on social value across housing to support levelling up of social opportunity across the UK.

Following the Environment Agency recently releasing new information about the importance of immediate climate change, with an accompanying message of “Adapt or Die”, PTI partners are also working to create the tools for all local governments in the UK to become Net Zero. The platform which is already developed and in operation will push out all the recommendations into a central system so they can be connect to others forming powerful collaborative data and connection to the SVF and a powerful platform to measure impact around ESG.

ESG refers to Environmental, Social and Governmental. If you look at just the environmental impact element of this programme, we are looking for a potentially huge impact on creating NetZero housing within 20 years. For context, 20% of the population live in social housing, which makes up 17% of the UK’s housing stock. The evidence shows that these contribute 50% of greenhouse gasses. These new technologies will provide a framework to support a programme currently in discussion, to secure a net zero environmental outcome. The investment here will be substantial, circa £104 billion across the next 20 years.

PTI can now look to support the creation of other collaborative projects within communities, tackling complex social challenges like Fighting Knife Crime and supporting the eradication of digital inequality on a local/national level through collaborative impact groups. To do this, PTI utilises a no boundary’s approach to collaboration, bringing together the right connections, resources, and funding to achieve the desired results for communities, corporates, and UK PLC.

A note around funding. There is a significant need to identify the vast sums of Government funding already available and to utilise them ethically in service of the country and its people, not in continuation of supporting greedy organisations getting fat off the public purse. The question is not, is the funding available, because it is, billions of pounds are available already. The question now is simply, are more businesses prepared to adopt the PTI mindset and embrace the opportunity to create a commercially sustainable national programme of Positive Transformation.

PTI have created a middle ground that can demonstrate value to Communities, Corporates, and the Government alike through collaborative partnerships delivered locally that combine into a national movement for levelling up and Positive Transformation. This is a desperately needed catalyst for change through an evolution in creating a commercially sustainable, social value driven, ethical marketplace for business, state and third sector.

In leading a social impact evolution, PTI will support Government and Corporates with their drive towards better implementation of ESG and help their election promises to level up communities. ESG has moved from the UN to mainstream thinking in Government and amongst corporations all over the world. This move has given added impetus by the COP movement and the realisation that greater sustainability and investment in communities are necessary. This is fuelled by public demand for those in power to do better and will be leveraged by PTI Collaborative Impact Groups.

Regulators and others are now biting hard on the practical and measurable implementation of ESG within Corporates and asking why we are not doing more. PTI can bridge the gap by levelling up in the kind of way that we all assume the Government wish to, but simply cannot, without collaboration with Communities and Corporates.

PTI can demonstrate value in all the ways being outlined here, using advanced technology to show big corporates that they can make an immediate impactful difference with auditable impact measurements, measurements that are aligned to the UN Global Sustainability Goals and auditable social value framework (SVF) calculations. Aligning with organisations such as One Planet and Connect to Regenerate is a good example of this in action.

Working with PTI collaborative partners, an individual corporate ESG report can be made now to present measurable outcomes in way that could not be done before. Inevitably this is not provided for free, it will however provide a measurable and commercially sustainable value, along with a hugely desirable benefit in efficiency as organisations attempt do business by tapping into new labour markets. The social housing sector alone represents a 20% market segment of diverse and inclusive new talent and potential customers that has been overlooked for far too long. Poverty does NOT equal stupidity, quite the opposite.

In addition to the social value, there is a huge potential environmental benefit through reduced carbon emissions, approached correctly and through a joined-up collaboration without micro-agendas and power plays, this will present a win-win for everyone, impacting communities, corporates, the Government, and the Environment. This work will act as a clear and effective prototype for systemic global change, pushing for those in power to think less about ESG targets, and far more about the human dynamics of collaboration that are required to either Adapt or Die as a species that is running out of time to save our own environment on earth.

How does this all help connect to communities? When investment in communities, and in their housing and buildings start to beneficially impact the individual, there is a curve that begins to drive new potential employees from the same demographic. From the corporate’s perspective, this is a huge untapped opportunity to find new and talented employees. One way of looking at it is to say that there is a massive problem with recruitment in the UK at present. This is exacerbated by another body of potential employees, who do not want to return to work in an office environment and are keen to find new ways of working. There is sitting in the homes of social housing communities, a huge mass of untapped talent – potentially up to 20% of the working population.

ree

PTI is supporting projects to identify the untapped talent market that also potentially represents a 20% new market segment than can be accessed by forward thinking truly diverse and inclusive corporates. Now more than ever before we have a long overdue opportunity to level up the UK, create meaningful and measurable diversity and inclusion, while showing UK PLC as leading the way in how to create commercially sustainable, access to opportunities through no boundary’s collaborative initiatives.

In creating this collaborative approach PTG can demonstrate a completely new and revolutionary approach to belonging at work, providing fully funded and part subsidised volume recruitment through back to work programmes, completely new thinking in recruitment and new talent attraction, also showing how to create meaningful purpose driven employee engagement with active involvement in social and environmental projects.

These initiatives enable employers to be more tailored in their approach to new talent acquisition, taking an influencer-based approach and in the large part, removing over inflated recruitment fees from agencies and social media which are all becoming dramatically less effective in our new world economy.

It is clear that what nobody accounted for until the pandemic is the scale of the race to find new talent and drive for diversity and inclusion. PTI can now demonstrate that not only can an organisation be part of this national project, but PTI can open up a large percentage of the UK population living in the community to which these corporates have had scant access until now.

This is the PTI Bridge, a new era in creating business value through social value, by Connecting Communities and Corporates (CCC) to level up society and create brighter better futures through new thinking and Positive Transformation.
